5k Wrap Up

The IAA Foundation hosted the 7th Annual 5K Grow and Go race on a bright, warm and sunny morning, May 13, 2017. Money raised supports Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom (IAITC). The goal of the event is to promote Ag literacy while celebrating education, health and wellness.

Over $25,400 was raised to support Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom (IAITC). The event was held at IAA headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, home of Illinois Farm Bureau, COUNTRY Financial, and GROWMARK. 280 people participated and volunteered in the 5K race, one mile walk, youth run, and open house.  Employees from the Family of Companies got involved by wearing their jeans May 11th. $2,108 in jeans day dollars were contributed to the cause!

We also had a record number of Grow & Go Heroes, sponsored by GROWMARK®. Eight runners and dashers went above and beyond to raise funds to support IAITC. They earned a special t-shirt, registration and an ag book to donate to a school/library of their choice. We were happy to honor two of our long-time supporters, Charlie Grotevant and Daniel Gould as heroes, as well as four children for the first time!

After the race, participants were invited for an indoor open house, complimentary hot breakfast and exhilarating awards ceremony. The coveted tractor trophies got a makeover with hand-painted corn cob accents, which were presented to top finishers. Families were also able to participate in the IAITC interactive learning stations as well as take home some silent auction items, if they were the highest bidder!
