5K Grow & Go a Success!

The IAA Foundation hosted the 8th Annual 5K Grow and Go race on Saturday, May 12th. Money raised supports Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom (IAITC). The goal of the event is to promote Ag literacy while celebrating learning, health, and wellness.

It was another successful year for the race, raising $25,600 to support Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom (IAITC). The event was held at IAA Headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, home of Illinois Farm Bureau, COUNTRY Financial, and GROWMARK. 230 people participated and volunteered in the 5K race, one-mile walk, kids race, and open house.

We also had a few Grow & Go Heroes, sponsored by GROWMARK®, 3 runners who went above and beyond to raise funds to support IAITC. They earned a special t-shirt, registration and an ag-book to donate to a school/library of their choice. We were happy to honor two of our long-time supporters again, Charlie Grotevant and Daniel Gould as heroes!

After the race, participants were invited for an indoor open house, complimentary hot breakfast and exhilarating awards ceremony. The coveted tractor trophies continue to be a hit with the new hand-painted corn cob accents, thanks to our long-time supporter and former Illinois Farm Bureau employee, Ted Masters. The awards were presented to presented to top finishers. (see picture for overall female winner, Celeste Quinn & overall male winner, Bradley Wilson) Families were also able to participate in the IAITC interactive learning stations and make a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift thanks to the IAA Credit Union.
